I love this little set I made for a friend and coworker of my husband’s. His wife was expecting last year and I jumped at the chance to make them something for the little one! The Norwegian Sweet Baby Cap is another free pattern. I have made this hat several times. I honestly thought it was the dorkiest thing ever when I first saw it… but on the babies it really is just the cutest thing and the pattern itself is fun to knit. The yarn is Wollmeise in the colorway Ruby Thursday and the edging and ties were done in the colorway Sultan.
And I always want to squee when I see these booties. These are done in the Sultan colorway again and the colors knit up so perfectly. The pattern is Christine’s Stay-On Baby Booties (another free pattern!!) and they knit up quick and easy and yet they are so stinkin’ cute!
At the time I made this set, they didn’t find out what they were having, so I was hoping these would work for a boy or a girl. They ended up having a little boy and I hope they love this set as much as I do.
When I was working on these little booties, it was also the first opportunity I had to use my (then) brand new yarn bowl made by a wonderful Ravelry friend, Stacey, in St. Louis. I love this thing and it sits on my desk all the time. Appropriately, she just welcomed her very first granddaughter into the world this month! There are two more babies due at the end of this year in my knitting group, too. I must remember not to drink the water around here.
